Monday, 1st June 2026 marks International Children’s Day. In 2025, our world continues to sink into further depths of inhumanity and misery for so many children impacted by war.

Peace For Children

PeaceKnotWar.com launches global call for unity on International Children’s Day

DUBLIN, IRELAND — On International Children’s Day 2026,

PeaceKnotWar.com is calling on people across the world to stand together for children affected by war, displacement, hunger and violence.

Under the theme:

“War Divides. Knots Connect.”

The campaign asks individuals, schools, communities, artists, athletes and leaders to tie a simple white knot as a symbol of solidarity with children trapped in conflict zones.

The organisation said the knot represents humanity choosing connection over division, compassion over hatred, and peace over war.

“Children do not start wars, yet they suffer the greatest consequences from them,” said a spokesperson for Peace Knot War.

“Across Gaza, Sudan, Lebanon, Ukraine and other conflict zones, children are losing parents, homes, education, safety and hope. We cannot normalise this suffering. The world must reconnect around the protection of children.”

The campaign now in its 3rd year comes amid escalating humanitarian crises affecting millions of children globally.

According to UNICEF, more than 21,289 children have reportedly been killed in Gaza since October 2023, with over 44,500 injured. UNICEF has described the suffering endured by children in Gaza as “an affront to our shared humanity.”

In Sudan, now considered one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, UNICEF estimates that half of the 33.7 million people requiring urgent assistance are children. More than 17 million school-aged children are currently out of school because of conflict and displacement.

In Ukraine, UNICEF reports that more than one-third of all children — approximately 2.6 million — remain displaced after years of war. Child casualties continue to rise, with attacks causing increasing psychological trauma, educational disruption and family separation.

In Lebanon and across the wider Middle East region, continuing instability and regional conflict are deepening trauma for children already impacted by economic collapse, displacement and insecurity.

The campaign also expressed concern regarding the growing risk of regional escalation involving Iran and its potential humanitarian consequences for children across the Middle East.

Peace Knot War is urging people worldwide to participate by:

  • Tying a white knot around their wrist, school bag or local landmark
  • Sharing a message of peace using #WarDividesKnotsConnect
  • Posting a 60-second silence video for children affected by war
  • Encouraging schools and communities to organise “Human Peace Knot” gatherings

The organisation says the campaign is intentionally non-political and focused solely on the protection and dignity of children.

“Our message is simple,” the spokesperson added.

“War divides humanity. Knots connect humanity. Every child deserves safety, education, dignity and peace.”
